From March 3 to 16, 2024, a team of 30 student representatives from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) traveled to Singapore to participate in the inaugural TF SCALE program, hosted by Singapore Polytechnic. The student group was led by Dr. Pheerathamm Techapalokul, lecturer from the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management, and Miss Sumana Sorathiwa, lecturer from the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts.
Supported by Temasek Foundation Singapore, the program covered round-trip travel from Chiang Mai to Singapore, along with accommodation, meals, and participation costs. This generous support allowed students to fully immerse themselves in an intensive two-week learning experience.
The TF SCALE program was designed to cultivate leadership capabilities, enhance intercultural understanding, and foster the creation of community-centered innovations through the Design Thinking process. Working in international and interdisciplinary teams, participants explored real-world social issues and developed actionable solutions that could benefit communities both locally and globally.
The initiative also enabled students to contribute to the development of educational resources and problem-solving frameworks that can be adapted for use in diverse community contexts. Beyond classroom learning, the experience provided meaningful opportunities for student volunteering, collaboration, and reflective learning through hands-on activities.
As a continuation of this international cooperation, a second phase of the TF SCALE program is scheduled to be held at RMUTL in September 2024, where students from both institutions will reunite to apply their skills directly in collaboration with local communities in Thailand.
This program highlights the potential of cross-border educational partnerships in empowering young people to become active contributors to community development and sustainable change.
