Opening Ceremony of the TF-Scale 2024 Workshop in Collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore

On September 3, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL),by Office of International Relations Office, held the opening ceremony for the TF-Scale 2024 Workshop in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore. The event took place on the 4th floor of the RMUTL Library and was presided over by Dr. Nopadon Maneetian, Director of the College of Integrated Science and Technology. The ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Watcharin Sitthicharoen, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Praipan Thanalersopit, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, the organizing committee of the TF-Scale 2024 Workshop in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, 33 lecturers and students from SP, and 30 students from RMUTL.

This workshop follows the previous TF-Scale 2024 workshop held in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic in Singapore, which was attended by 30 RMUTL students and 2 supervising lecturers from March 3 to 16, 2024. The current workshop runs from September 2 to 13, 2024, and aims to promote activities for students from both institutions through interdisciplinary teams, focusing on social innovation for communities. The workshop uses design thinking skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and English communication in a multicultural context, under the guidance of facilitators from both institutions. This time, the participants will work in the target community of Ban Kad Subdistrict, Mae Wang District, Chiang Mai Province, under the themes of Elderlies’ Well-Being, Teachers’ Anxiety, and Food Awareness.

Following the opening ceremony, an orientation session was held, including activities such as "Orientation of Living Environment & Get to Know You (Ice-Breaking, Teambuilding, Thai Language Lesson)" and a series of special lectures. The details of the lectures are as follows:

• Topic 1: Elderly’s Wellbeing by Dr. Waraluk Poo Sungnoen, Head of the Neurosurgery Department, Chiang Mai Neurological Hospital.
• Topic 2: Teacher’s Anxiety by Dr. Thanyalak Boonlue and Dr. Noraset Techa, from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, RMUTL.
• Topic 3: Students' Food Awareness (Nutrition/Food Safety) by Assistant Professor Dr. Janyawat Tanchorenrath Wuttichamnong, from the Food Business and Nutrition Program, Faculty of Science and Agricultural Technology, RMUTL.

The event concluded with a hands-on workshop titled "Design Thinking Recap, Sense and Sensibility, and Empathy," conducted by a team of facilitators from RMUTL. Afterward, the organizing committee took the students and lecturers from SP to purchase equipment in preparation for the community activities scheduled for the following day.
