Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), through the Office of Global Engagement, organized the Thai Language and Culture Course for nine international exchange students, including seven students from Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU), People's Republic of China, and two students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The students are participating in exchange programs at the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts and the Faculty of Engineering, RMUTL Chiang Mai.
The course is being held at the Learning Space, RMUTL Library, from 21 July to 11 August 2026. It aims to provide participants with fundamental Thai language skills and a deeper understanding of Thai culture, enabling them to adapt confidently to daily life and communicate effectively during their stay in Thailand. The program also promotes cross-cultural learning by offering interactive, hands-on learning experiences that encourage active participation and meaningful cultural exchange.
The course covers a variety of practical topics, including Basic Thai Greetings, Do's and Don'ts in Thailand, Thai Numbers, Thai Food, and Shopping. Through these lessons, students practice essential Thai communication skills for everyday situations, such as greeting people, asking for information, ordering food, shopping, and interacting within Thai society. In addition, they gain valuable insights into Thai etiquette, customs, traditions, and ways of life through creative learning activities, educational games, and collaborative group exercises that foster a fun, friendly, and engaging learning environment while encouraging interaction among students from different cultural backgrounds.The course is conducted by Ms. Kaewsai Lorpetch and Ms. Pornsawan Sombatnan, International Relations Officers from the Office of Global Engagement, RMUTL. Serving as instructors, they provide knowledge of the Thai language and culture while designing interactive learning activities that encourage students to practice communication skills, exchange ideas, and build confidence in using Thai in real-life situations.
The Thai Language and Culture Course represents one of RMUTL's key internationalization initiatives, reflecting the University's commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for international students. Beyond enhancing language proficiency and cultural understanding, the program strengthens friendships and academic networks among students from different countries, laying a solid foundation for future educational collaboration, student mobility, and sustainable cross-cultural learning.
