On September 7, 2026, the Office of International Relations, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), organized a workshop entitled “Enhancing Knowledge and Skills for International Affairs” at Leelawadee Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Office of the President Building, RMUTL. The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and practical experience essential for working in international relations, as well as to strengthen their capacity to effectively support and coordinate international cooperation in line with the international context of higher education.
The workshop focused on learning from the practical experiences of distinguished experts with extensive backgrounds in managing international affairs in higher education institutions. Key topics included protocol and hospitality for foreign delegates, coordination and development of cooperation with international organizations and higher education institutions, support for international research and academic collaboration, and the sharing of best practices. These activities were designed to enable participants to apply the knowledge and experience gained to their daily work effectively and appropriately.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Somkiat Wongpanich, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Research and Academic Services, who was joined by Associate Professor Dr. Thitibhorn Phantachang, Assistant to the President, the Director of the Office of the President, and the Director of the General Affairs Division.
The workshop featured two distinguished speakers from Chiang Mai University (CMU). The first was Assistant Professor Dr. Worakanya Buranaphat, D.D.S., Assistant to the President for International Relations and Global Engagement, Chiang Mai University, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University. She plays an important role in advancing cultural diplomacy and fostering international academic collaboration. Her key responsibilities include welcoming and negotiating cooperation with international institutions and organizations, as well as promoting and strengthening relationships between the university and its international partners.
The second speaker was Ms. Kattima Prasit-yusil, Director of the International Affairs Administration Center, Chiang Mai University, who has extensive experience and a broad vision in international relations management. Her expertise encompasses developing and establishing networks with leading international educational institutions and organizations, as well as promoting educational opportunities, research grants, and international collaborative activities for university personnel and students on an ongoing basis.
More than 20 participants attended the workshop, comprising personnel responsible for international affairs from faculties and colleges across RMUTL, together with staff from the Office of International Relations. The workshop was intended to provide participants with knowledge, understanding, and practical approaches that can be applied to strengthen the coordination and implementation of RMUTL’s international cooperation missions. Ultimately, the initiative aims to enhance staff capabilities and further strengthen the university’s capacity in international engagement.
