Learning Express 2026: 3 Days of Community Engagement and Social Innovation

From April 1–3, 2026, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) organized the Learning Express 2026 (LeX 2026) program, bringing together over 80 faculty members and students from RMUTL, Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore, and Nanhua University, Taiwan. The participants engaged in a community immersion program across selected target communities in Chiang Mai Province to carry out hands-on learning activities focused on Social Innovation.

Throughout the three-day program, participants met with community leaders and local representatives to gain insights into real-life contexts. They collaboratively developed community-based solutions through the Design Thinking process, integrating essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and English communication in a multicultural environment. This experience significantly enhanced their international learning exposure and practical competencies.

This year, the program focused on the following communities and development themes:

Group 1: Ban Ton Haen Noi (Flash Flooding)
Focused on analyzing and designing solutions to mitigate flash flooding issues, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Suphrapan Khonchiab, Mr. Supachart Krudthong, Ms. Sumana Sorathiwa, Ms. Tulaya Darun, and Mr. Wattanyu Chaiya.

Group 2: Ban Nam Ton (Pottery)
Aimed at enhancing local wisdom in pottery craftsmanship to create added value and promote sustainability.

Group 3: Ban Laung Tai (Tai Lue Cotton Textiles)
Focused on promoting the identity of Tai Lue cotton textiles through creative design and product development aligned with modern market demands.

This community immersion marks another significant milestone of the Learning Express program, emphasizing experiential learning while fostering collaboration between academic institutions and local communities, ultimately contributing to sustainable development at both local and international levels.
