On August 19, 2026, Ms. Ausdaporn Kunta, a coordinator of the Office of International Relations, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), participated in the workshop “Smile Service Excellence: Creating Smiles and Impressions in Service” at Khum Phu Kham Hotel, Chiang Mai. The workshop was organized by the General Affairs Division, Office of the President, RMUTL. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Paweena Thongpron, Director of the Office of the President, with staff members from various units across the university participating in the event.

The workshop aimed to enhance the capabilities of support staff in service delivery, with a focus on developing positive attitudes toward work, cultivating a strong Service Mind, and emphasizing the importance of service recipients’ experiences. The program also sought to strengthen participants’ skills in positive communication, emotional management, and handling various workplace situations, enabling them to apply these skills appropriately and professionally in their daily duties.

The workshop featured Assistant Professor Dr. Yuratthorn Jeena, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and Assistant Professor Kerdsiri Chomphukawin, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication Strategy, Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, RMUTL, as guest speakers. They shared their knowledge and experiences in communication and service excellence through both lectures and practical activities. These included Service Mind Techniques, First Impression Techniques, “HEART SERVICE and Smile Commitment,” and “Role Play: Smiles for a Better Organization.” The activities allowed participants to practice applying the concepts to real-life workplace situations while exchanging perspectives and experiences with one another.

Participation in the workshop not only enhanced service-related skills but also promoted the concept of creating a “positive service experience”, which is an essential aspect of the work of university support units. This is particularly relevant to roles involving coordination and service provision for staff, students, and both Thai and international visitors. The knowledge and experiences gained from the workshop can be applied to the work of the International Relations Office to further improve coordination and service delivery, making services more courteous, friendly, efficient, and welcoming.

Developing service skills is therefore an important element in fostering a university working culture that places service recipients at the center. By cultivating personnel with knowledge, professional skills, and positive attitudes toward service, RMUTL aims to enhance the quality and professionalism of its services while creating positive experiences and strengthening the university’s image at every point of service.
