On 3 July 2026, the International Relations Office of Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) organized the workshop entitled "English Communication in the Workplace: Important English Skills in the Workplace" at Lan Phailin Conference Room, Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts. The workshop aims to enhance the English language proficiency of university personnel, enabling them to communicate effectively in the workplace and support professional collaboration in both national and international contexts.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Paweena Thongpron, Director of the Office of the President, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna. In her opening address, she emphasized the importance of developing English communication skills in today's increasingly interconnected workplace, where effective communication with both domestic and international partners is essential. She also highlighted the value of integrating digital technologies into daily work processes to improve productivity and organizational effectiveness.

The workshop was conducted by two distinguished instructors: Assistant Professor Thammanoon Bupta, Lecturer at the College of Integrated Science and Technology, and Ms. Sumana Sorathiwa, Lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts. They shared their expertise and practical experience in workplace English communication while introducing participants to effective techniques for utilizing digital tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance communication, translation, and workplace performance in the digital era.

The training program is held over two sessions on Friday, 3 July and Friday, 10 July 2026. It focuses on developing practical English skills through lectures, hands-on exercises, and interactive workshops. The curriculum includes Translation with AI Tools, enabling participants to use AI applications for translating office documents and information, as well as Everyday Office Vocabulary, which introduces essential vocabulary commonly used in workplace situations.

Participants also learn key communication skills for professional settings, including Socializing at Work, Communication in Meetings, Communication via Phones, Reporting and Resolving Problems, and Asking for Help. In addition, they develop their Listening and Speaking in English skills through audio-based activities, note-taking exercises, comprehension tasks, and role-playing scenarios such as answering telephone calls, welcoming visitors, and clarifying information.

The workshop further enhances participants' Presentation Skills in English through a collaborative activity entitled "Creating an English-Friendly Office Environment to Enhance Language Skills." During this session, participants work together to design practical approaches for fostering an English-friendly environment within their own offices by applying the knowledge and skills gained from the training. The program concludes with a final presentation, allowing participants to demonstrate their learning outcomes and exchange ideas with their colleagues.

This workshop reflects RMUTL's strong commitment to continuously developing the professional competencies of its personnel through English language education and digital literacy. By promoting the practical use of English alongside emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the university aims to improve workplace efficiency, strengthen international engagement, and cultivate a culture of lifelong learning. These initiatives contribute to building a resilient, innovative, and globally connected organization capable of adapting to future challenges while achieving sustainable institutional development.
