Meeting with University of Otago, New Zealand

On September 2, 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), by Office of International Relations, held a meeting with representatives from the University of Otago, New Zealand, led by Mr. Paul Baker, Director of the University of Otago’s Language Centre, and Ms. Jaruwan Pongjaruwat, Director of the Education Section, Embassy of New Zealand to Thailand. The meeting was honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Urachananon, Vice President for Council Affairs, who served as the chair of the meeting, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Thitibhorn Phanthachang, Assistant to the President, executives from RMUTL’s faculties and the College of Integrated Science and Technology, faculty members, and staff from Office of International Relations. The meeting took place at Sompoh Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, President’s Office Building, RMUTL.

During the meeting, a report was presented on the project “Enhancing Professional Teaching Capacity Using English as a Medium of Instruction to Elevate RMUTL's International Excellence”, under the OBELP (Online Blended English Learning Programme with Teaching Practicum 2025), with a total of 56 training hours. A total of 15 lecturers from all faculties and the college participated in the program, which was conducted by distinguished professors from the University of Otago.

The University of Otago also reported on the progress of five RMUTL lecturers who had been selected to participate in the program at the University of Otago in New Zealand, held between August 20 – September 22, 2025. In addition, both institutions discussed strategies for monitoring and evaluating the participants’ ability to apply the knowledge gained, with the aim of further developing English-medium instruction at RMUTL. On this occasion, the University of Otago awarded official Certificates to all 15 RMUTL lecturers who completed the program, certifying their successful participation.

Furthermore, the meeting also discussed opportunities to expand future academic collaborations. RMUTL emphasized its commitment to continuously enhancing English proficiency development programs for lecturers, in preparation for offering international curricula and sustainably elevating teaching and learning standards to meet global benchmarks.
