On October 2, 2026, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), by Office of International Relations, held a meeting with representatives from the Embassy of Canada in Thailand to discuss potential cooperation in developing cybersecurity skills and knowledge.
The delegation was led by Ms. Nitchawan Sriviboone, Trade Commissioner (Education); Mr. Pisite Chaiwattanachai, Trade Commissioner (Information and Communications Technology); and Mr. Ne Lynn Saing, Political and Economic Program Officer. The meeting was held at the meeting room of the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology (ARIT), 2nd Floor, Library Building, RMUTL. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thitibhorn Phantachang, Assistant to the President, with the participation of administrators and staff from ARIT and the Office of International Relations.
The meeting aimed to exchange information on RMUTL’s needs and explore potential areas for future cooperation in cybersecurity. RMUTL presented its existing activities, training capabilities, and projects related to cybersecurity skills development, including its role in coordinating cybersecurity networks and organizing short-term training courses to enhance the skills of staff and relevant participants.
Both sides also exchanged views on potential target groups for future training activities, particularly faculty members and operational staff who could serve as knowledge facilitators and share their expertise with other institutions at the regional level. This approach could help strengthen a network of personnel capable of applying and sharing cybersecurity knowledge within educational institutions and organizations in the region.
In addition, the meeting explored opportunities to incorporate new knowledge, emerging technologies, and international case studies into the development of training programs and learning activities. The aim is to ensure that the training content is relevant to current developments and practical needs. Both sides also discussed suitable periods for organizing future training activities, particularly during academic breaks, to facilitate staff participation and support the continued development of joint activities.
The meeting marked another important step in exploring cooperation between RMUTL and Canada in cybersecurity capacity development. The two sides shared a common interest in promoting cybersecurity skills and knowledge, strengthening professional networks, and supporting digital capacity development at the regional level.
