Potential areas of collaboration include teaching and learning activities, student and staff exchanges, joint projects, as well as future academic and innovation initiatives.
During the meeting, the representatives from International College of Technology, Kanazawa introduced their institution and educational approaches, which are characterized by the KOSEN-style education model in Japan. The model focuses on developing engineers and technology professionals through an integrated approach that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experimentation and practical learning. The institution places strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, as well as STEAM and Engineering Design, with the aim of developing students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, practical skills, and capacity for innovation.
The discussions also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas and explore potential areas of mutual interest, particularly in science, technology, engineering, innovation, practical education, and the development of 21st-century skills. Both institutions also discussed promoting student and staff mobility and developing joint academic projects. In addition, both sides expressed their intention to further advance the partnership toward the development and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the near future, which would provide a framework for establishing more concrete and continuous collaboration.
The meeting marked another important step in expanding RMUTL’s international academic network, moving from faculty-level collaboration toward broader university-wide cooperation across multiple disciplines. This partnership is expected to create greater opportunities for students and staff to exchange knowledge, experiences, and innovations with a leading educational institution in Japan. It will also serve as an important foundation for enhancing academic capacity and fostering a strong, long-term, and sustainable partnership between the two institutions.
