A group of 11 student representatives from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) received full scholarships from Nanhua University (NHU), Taiwan, to participate in the “Slow Movement x Design Thinking Workshop 2025” held at NHU from 5 – 17 November 2025. The students were accompanied by five RMUTL lecturers who joined the program as invited speakers. The project aims to deepen participants’ understanding of community issues and social challenges while enhancing systems thinking and collaborative problem-solving capacities. Through the philosophy of Slow Movement—which encourages mindful and in-depth observation—and the Design Thinking process—which drives creative, human-centered, and effective problem-solving—students engaged in community-based fieldwork to generate solutions aligned with local needs.
For the 2025 program, four community-based Problem Statements were assigned as the core focus for field immersion. These include:
1. Dalin Community
How can we help villagers in Dalin promote their community to be well-known with no environmental impact?
2. Luman Community
How can Luman community construct a community identity and promote preservation and revitalization while achieving a balance between tourism development and culture protection?
3. Pinglin Community
How can we help people in Pinglin community to effectively manage the agricultural farms and preserve the chirping tree frog to sustainably promote ecological tourism?
4. Mayuan Community
How can we design engaging and meaningful activities that enhance the collective well-being of the Mayuan community?
The project also served as a platform for leadership development, teamwork, and academic networking among students from Nanhua University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, the University of Phayao, and Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (Mae Hong Son Campus).
