Context of OIR


Background

The Office of International Relations is responsible for communication, coordination, and implementation of activities to enhance international relations and cooperation. Its scope of work includes coordinating academic and related collaborative projects with international partners, as well as providing support, facilitation, and services related to scholarships, training programs, seminars, study visits, and various international activities. These efforts aim to enhance the potential of students and staff, while promoting academic development toward internationalization.

The Office of International Relations was established on 1 October 2006 at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), under the supervision of the Office of Academic Promotion and Registration. In 2023, following an internal restructuring of the university administration, the Office of International Relations was reassigned to be under the Office of the President, where it currently operates.

Mission

  1. To support and promote academic cooperation with institutions and universities both domestically and internationally, in collaboration with faculties, institutes, and colleges.

  2. To support and promote student and staff exchange programs in academic and research fields with international partner institutions.

  3. To support and encourage students and staff to obtain scholarships and participate in training programs offered by international institutions and universities.


Strategic Issues of the Office of International Relations

  • Develop academic cooperation projects and activities with domestic and international institutions.

  • Support the development of international programs and foreign language instruction.

  • Promote and implement student and staff exchange programs.


Goals

  • The quality of education at RMUTL is recognized internationally.

  • Establish international programs jointly with foreign universities and ASEAN+3 countries.

  • Increase the number of international students at RMUTL.

  • Increase the number of RMUTL students participating in international exchange programs.

  • Enhance students’ foreign language competencies to be competitive in the ASEAN labor market.

  • Strengthen staff capacity, knowledge, and expertise.


Strategies

  • Support the development of international programs by faculties, colleges, and the School of General Education and Electronic Learning (SUK. Lampang).

  • Strengthen existing networks and expand new networks to support staff training, internships, and further studies.

  • Support continuous collaborative activities and projects with partner universities.

  • Promote the development of foreign language skills for students and staff.

3. International Delegation Affairs

  • Hosting and coordinating visits of foreign delegates

4. Student and Staff Exchange Programs

  • Inbound exchange programs
  • Outbound exchange programs

5. Visa and Immigration Services

  • Visa support and notification of foreign residents within the university

6. Royal Assistance Project for the Kingdom of Cambodia

  • Implementation of royal assistance projects

7. English Language Development Programs

  • English proficiency development programs for staff
